Justin Butler

As Chief Risk Officer, Justin is responsible for defining and implementing standards for risk identification, management, measurement, monitoring and reporting. Additionally, he is accountable for establishing the appropriate risk appetite for the enterprise as approved by the Board of Directors. Justin’s team provides independent oversight and guidance for managing existing and emerging risk, including the deployment of cloud-based utilities. His team leads efforts to build and sustain a strong culture in which all employees understand the importance of managing risk to serve our customers and communities.

Prior to joining Bremer in 2022, Justin spent almost two decades working at various Fortune 500 companies in finance, strategy and risk management. Justin graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and earned his executive MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Justin is an active community member, serving on the board of directors for the Greater Twin Cities United Way and on the board of trustees for Hamline University. Previously, he served as chairman of the board for Quality Comprehensive Healthcare and as vice chairman of the board for the Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce. He also served the board of directors for the National Association of Black Accountants.

Justin lives in Woodbury, Minnesota with his wife Desirae and their two children. He enjoys traveling and playing golf in his spare time.
